Will the Real Obama Please Stand Up

Who is the real Obama?

He is whoever he needs to be based on the crowd, the polls, and of course the teleprompter. Not a lot of people claimed to like George W. Bush. They said he was dumb, he couldn’t talk real good, and that he spent too much of his time as President on vacation. Most of the criticisms are laughable, and are easy to thrown out by people that don’t k now what they are talking about. One criticism you don’t hear about the 43rd President is that he tried to please everyone.

I would argue that his lack of wavering on his principles and core beliefs is what helped to define his presidency, and kept America safe after the attacks of 911. The willingness to stand your ground in the face of opposition is the hallmark of a leader. It is a defining factor of leadership. George W. Bush showed this type of resolve and leadership, and it cost him his popularity.

Most people will tell you that he was not a good President, or worse, but I believe that history will show him to be one of the men who define the office. Obama on the other hand, much like Clinton, and Carter will be remembered for trying to redefine the office.

Carter brought the farm to the oval office. He was peanut farmer with a big smile, and bad ideas. He was elected in an anti-Nixon-Ford-Republican party backlash. “I’ve looked on many women with lust. I’ve committed adultery in my heart many times.” He may not have committed adultery, but he did lead us into record inflation, and oil crisis, and watched the Iranian revolution take place, while out citizens were held hostage for over a year.

Clinton was also elected on a wave of anti-Republican-establishment sentiment. The Reagan-Bush years, became the Bush-Quayle years, and people wanted change. Clinton was young, fresh, exciting, and he played the saxophone. He, unlike Carter, did look on many women with lust, and did commit adultery with more than his heart, and in several rooms of the White House. Monica Lewinsky and the famous blue dress couldn’t bring him down though. The Clinton machine was too strong, and had its hooks too deep in the liberal media of the day. It was just sex, he lied about. No big deal. If Hillary doesn’t care why should we?

Isn’t Liberal justification sad?

Now we have Obama. He ran against George W. Bush, despite the fact that GWB wasn’t running. No he faced off against the Maverick of the Senate John McCain. McCain, had the experience, and the record, but he was too old, too stiff, and too white. Yes, once again it was a time for change, time for hope and change. The people, once again drunk of the kool aid of anti-incumbent-Republican-Bush sentiment put a Democrat in the White House. Not just any Democrat, but Barrack Hussein Obama: the first African-American President of the United States. History was made. Everyone went a big stiff one and patted themselves on the back. But now are wondering who they elected?

He ran against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the wars he briefly supported in the Senate, and then adamantly opposed as a candidate. The wars he continued and bolstered by sending more thousands more troops the very day he received the Nobel Peace Prize for being the first black U.S. President. Is he a hawk or a dove?

He ran with a promise of shutting the Guantanamo Bay military facility, after the highly publicized treatment of prisoners of war swept the country and took bleeding hearts by storm. After a year, and a democratically controlled Congress, Gitmo is still there and still holding prisoners who are praying to Allah for hope and change.

He promised that internationally he would single handedly fix the relations between the U.S and the rest of the planet. The Olympics would be a slam dunk. But it turned out to be nothing but rim. Overseas we would regain face not through strength, but through bowing to leaders of all levels of power: sheiks, emperors, even mayors. Instead of being seen as the kid on the block that you don’t mess with, but you turn to for help when a bully is picking on you, we have become the skinny, George McFly dweeb, who picks his nose and does other peoples homework so he doesn’t get is butt kicked. The chicks ignore him, the jocks bully him, and even the principal laughs at him behind his back. How is that hope and change working out for you?

We all know that Mr. Obama is an elitist left-wing Liberal, with a Socialist agenda at best and a Fascist agenda at worst. So why doesn’t he just show his true colors? That question was rhetorical. We all know that he will never show who he really is, at least not in his first term. This first four years will be spent laying the ground work, building a foundation of expanded government programs, and takeover of the private sector that will all come to fruition in the second term, when there is no worry of being re-elected. Unless, they change the Constitution, which isn’t as unreal as it sounds. Just look at Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

Abraham Lincoln is attributed with the following quotes:
“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

“You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.”

Obama was able to fool most of the people and now he is in office, where he is trying to please all of the people. But as Lincoln said, you cannot do that. A successful leader cannot simply tell the people what they want to hear. We don’t call that being a leader; we call that being a parrot.

It is time for the real Barrack Hussein Obama to stand up. If he is a Liberal Socialist so be it, we will deal with that. If he is a Blue Dog Democrat that was dragged by the collar to the left, so be it, we’ll deal with that. If he is a Log Cabin Republican, we’ll deal with that.

It would just be nice to know who we are dealing with. The stock market and Wall Street would sure like to know, and I think main street would too.
